Picnic

We went to a beautiful park in Highlands Ranch today for a picnic. At first it was hard to find one that wasn't crowded with football or soccer games, but we eventually found a beautiful one. It was quite and so nice outside. It was just what I needed. I just love spending time as a family.

Fall and Food

I just love that it is starting to cool down here. We had such a hot summer. I normally love the summer and the heat but it was a little too much this year. I have been anxious for fall. I love this time of year so much. I love the colors of fall. I love the facts that leafs change and the air is crisp and cool. I love the smell of fall... pumpkin pie and apple cider. And I love the clothes... sweaters, scarfs, boots! I am so glad it is finally here. I got to bundle up Chloe last night for the first time.

She is getting so big. I love it but it makes me sad at the same time. I look forward to all the different steps she will take in life and all the different stages to come, but I don't like the fact that to get to one stage she has to leave one behind. She is sitting up on her own so good right now. She gets so proud of herself too, it's pretty cute. We decided to start giving her solid foods once a day for now starting with cereal. Today was day one and it went really good. I had tried giving her a little cereal before but she wasn't quite ready yet. She would spit it out and wouldn't open her mouth at all. Today she was ready though. She loved it. She has always been so interested in watching everyone else eat or drink. She constantly reaches for the drink in my hand or the food on my plate, so I think she was happy to finally get some for herself. She was reaching for more before I could even get another spoonful ready.

Bye bye hair!

When Chloe was born she had a head full of hair! I loved it so much. Slowly, she has lost it. I expected this, but it is still sad. She had a big bald spot in the back with long pieces in the front center. It was a little funny looking but it was her. Well, Scott asked over and over again for me to let him even it out and cut her hair. I kept saying no. Finally I got so annoyed that I said, "fine but you're responsible if it turns out bad". He cut her hair and as I watched the first chunk come off I was seriously near tears. I didn't think it would look good and I was nervous it would take forever to grow back. As it turns out, it looks better and it was a good decision. I should probably trust Scott a little more. It will grow in more even and look much better as it does. I'm not going to lie though, I still miss it a little bit and it is taking a while for me to get used to it.

Sleep stories

Scott and I have both done funny things in our sleep since we have been married. I talk in my sleep a lot and Scott has a few times. One night, Scott sat up, turned on the light and fell back asleep. When I was younger, I had a couple of cases where was sleep walking. And recently both of us have woken up only to realize that we were rocking a pillow to sleep. Those are all pretty typical stories though. Well,  Tuesday night, Scott and I were fast asleep. All of a sudden I get hit in the nose. Scott punched me in the face in his sleep. All the next day my nose was sore, but I thought the whole situation was hilarious and just laughed about it. That was the first time anything like that has happened. Well, as if that isn't enough, the following night, while asleep again, he went to lay on my pillow, unaware that my head was already there and head butt me... right on the nose again. OUCH! Now I am sore, and even a little swollen. I still think it is all hilarious and just makes for a good story, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm slightly nervous to go to bed tonight.

Labor Day

One thing I have loved since Scott and I got married is how much his entire family is always planning fun things, whether it's trips to the park, BBQ's, dinners, or fun holiday traditions, there is never a dull moment. His family is so BIG. I was laughing with a very nice lady today named Lauren (who was invited by a friend) because I asked who she knew and her answer was simple - the Jones'! It only took a second before we were both cracking up because that summed up just about everyone who was there. I love being part of his family. There is always something going on and so many good friends I have made because of it.
Today we had a BBQ at Garrett and Stacey's home. There was pool volleyball, fun in the hot tub, good food, and great friends! I love watching all the kids playing and having a blast, but what I might love even more is how no matter what they are doing, Scott is right there playing with them too. I think he will always have a young heart, it's part of who he is. That is one thing I have always loved about him and I don't think it will ever change.
Chloe had her first swim today. The pool water was a little too cold for her, so we went in the hot tub, which really wasn't hot, just warmer water than the pool. It was probably still even a little cooler than her baths normally are. She loves bath time though and she loved being in the water today as well.
The hot tub seemed to be the popular spot for the kiddos as well...
we were even able to squeeze a few more in there later!
I love this family so much! I could not have married into anything better! How can you not love them?

4 month checkup

Chloe is 4 months old today!
Crazy! She is growing so fast. I can't believe it has already been that long!
She has her doctors appointment today and she is growing and developing so good. She is 14 and a half pounds (which is the 50-75%) and 26 inches long (95-98%). She is most definitely teething and she got her shots today too. She did so great, we really do have such a happy girl.
Because she is so talented at getting out of her swaddle (which we do super tight and she still gets out), and because she is rolling over we were told to stop swaddling and let her sleep completely free. So today we are cutting her off cold turkey. Cross your fingers that she will still sleep.
Lately she has been waking up every hour if not more (I think because of her teething). The last two nights Chloe was up every 20 minutes, which made for a very sleepy mama. I might be going crazy from lack of sleep. It's a good thing she is so cute.
Chloe has napped a little today, first time not swaddled, she rolled to her tummy first thing and cried herself to sleep after about 20 minutes. Her bum was up in the air and her thumb in her mouth.
(just for the record, it is not that hot in her room, the temperature always says its hotter than it is)
Every time we lay her down now, she quickly rolls to her belly and tucks those knees up. How long until she can crawl? She wants to so bad. You can tell she gets frustrated that she's not mobile yet.
